Learning outside the classroom is a central tenet of our curriculum vision at Moreland. Children are given frequent opportunities to learn in the school grounds, local area, London and beyond. All classes receive at least one lesson a week outside of the classroom from across the curriculum and go on many trips to enrich their learning. We are the Museum of London's Champion School and work closely with them to develop and deliver our curriculum, working on joint projects. Below are just a few of the places visited over the year:

At Moreland we place a strong emphasis on children's connection with the natural environment and all teachers have received training in supporting children's learning in natural environments. We have two teachers who hold Forest School qualifications and all classes receive Forest School sessions over the course of the year. We have our own dedicated forest school area in the school grounds in addition to a growing garden, pond and our school chickens. We work closely with local organisations such as the Garden Classroom and St Luke's Centre to provide a variety of outside learning experiences. We are also working to integrate the National Trust's 50 Things To Do Before You Are 11 3/4 into our curriculum.

Clothing for Outdoor Learning

Children are expected to have suitable waterproof clothing and footwear for their outdoor learning and Forest School sessions. Waterproofs can be purchased from the School Office or from outdoor clothing suppliers.

Residential Trips

Children in Year 5 and 6 take part in residential trips. These trips give children the opportunity to experience a range of fun, adventurous activities, develop resilience and independence and challenge themselves.
