Earthquake proof building
On Tuesday 16 March, after looking at the famous earthquake buildings around the world, investigating 3D shapes, sketching and designing our own buildings. We used straws, Lego, wooden blocks and Jenga blocks to build our earthquake proof buildings. Then we tested them to find out if they can last an earthquake.
The Courtauld Gallery Art & Maths workshop
On Tuesday 30th March, we took part in a great workshop led by Alice, the Courtauld Gallery educator. We learned about the fascinating connections between art and maths, explored some of the Courtauld Gallery’s collections of Islamic metalwork and Italian Maiolica ceramics, used geometry and patterns in many interesting ways.
