This half term we are participating in Forest School. The children are so excited when we put on our wellies and go and explore nature.
Quote from Forest school training
"Research now backs up what forest school practitioners have known all along – that children and young people are stimulated by the outdoors and typically experience, over time, an increase in their self belief, confidence, learning capacity, enthusiasm, communication and problem-solving skills and emotional well-being."
We established the rules of Forest school and created our boundary.
We played the colour game and children went to find natural objects matching the chosen colour. We even found objects that don't belong in nature which provided us with a great talking point about keeping our natural habitats rubbish free.
This week we took inspiration from the artist Andy Goldworthy and created some natural art. The children worked so hard collecting their natural materials and forming their natural art work.
This week we played a game where we looked for something shiny, something colourful and something smooth.
We also created natural faces using the materials we found in the forest school area.
