Health and Well Being Support
Mental Health and Wellbeing
At Moreland we are committed to supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of our pupils, their families and our staff. We know that everyone experiences life changes and challenges that can make us vulnerable and at times, anyone may need additional emotional support. We take the view that positive mental health is everybody’s business and that we all have a role to play.
At Moreland Primary School and Children’s Centre we aim to:
- Help children to understand their emotions and recognise how they feel
- Help children to feel comfortable sharing any of their concerns or worries
- Help children socially to form positive, effective and lasting relationships
- Promote positive self-esteem and to ensure that children know they count, are valued and are special
- Encourage children to be confident in themselves and to celebrate their unique qualities and differences
- Help develop children's resilience and determination to ensure that they can experience success
- Help children to develop emotional resilience and to manage setbacks
- Help children to develop a growth mindset
We offer different levels of support:
Universal support: To meet the needs of all our pupils through our overall ethos and our wider curriculum. For instance developing resilience for all
Additional support: For those who may have short term needs and those who may have been made vulnerable by life experiences such as bereavement
Targeted support: For pupils who need more differentiated support and resources or specific targeted interventions such as well-being groups, nurture sessions or referral to wider professionals
Lead staff members:
Richard Morse - Assistant Head Inclusion
Dom Ebbasi - Pastoral Support Officer
Ella Tomlinson - Healthy Schools Lead

Health and Well-being Drop In Clinic
We now have a new ‘Health and Wellbeing’ drop in clinic that will be held several times per year at Moreland and will be run by the School Nursing Service. It is a confidential service and everyone is welcome to come along and make use of it.
Should you wish to discuss any health and wellbeing needs for your family such as oral health, managing minor ailments, medical conditions, bedwetting/soiling, diet and nutrition, personal hygiene and body changes, please come to the school office to collect a referral form, fill it in and return to the school. All forms will be stored confidentially and handed to the school nurse so that she can schedule appointments.
The sessions will be held on a first come, first served basis from 9am to 12pm and depending on how many parents want appointments.
The sessions are on the following dates:
22/01/2020
09/03/2020
04/05/2020
22/06/2020
We hope you can make use of this fantastic ‘one-stop’ service on offer to the school.
