Week One
This week we started our new topic 'Fossil Hunters'.
We have been learning about the life of Mary Anning, a famous paleontologist who discovered the Ichthyosaur. This week we read our core text 'Stone Girl, Bone Girl' and created timelines of key events in Mary Anning's life.
We also had a go at being paleontologists ourselves and carried out a 'Dino Dig' to see what we could find in the sandpit outside - we found fossils, dinosaur skeletons and dinosaur bones!
Week Two
Today we had a look at some real fossils and then had a go at some observational drawings of ammonites.
We were amazed to find out that some of the fossils we looked at were millions of years old - we even had a close look at a dinosaur eggshell!
We sketched observational drawings of ammonites in our sketchbooks and noticed the patterns. Look at our fantastic work!
Week Four
This week we had a fantastic trip to the Natural History Museum.
We explored lots of sections of the museum and particularly enjoyed the dinosaurs. We even saw a real life Ichthyosaur skeleton and a moving T-Rex!
We had a Stegosaurus workshop and learnt all about them and made our own stegosaurus. It was a brilliant day!
