Today Pear Class we’re lucky enough to visit Spitalfields City Farm. They saw lots of animals, some which we had seen before, others we had never seen. The children were so sensible travelling to and from the farm on public transport. Well done Pear Class!

This week we have been looking at some old fashioned toys. They said the musical box should be for babies because it makes a lullaby. They thought jack in a box was for older children because it might make babies jumpy. The soft toy is for babies so they can cuddle it when they’re sleeping and don’t get scared. They thought the spinning top was the best toy for reception because it is the most fun. Great ideas Pear Class!

The children in Pear Class cared for our school pets this week, Bubble & Squeak and Salt & Pepper. The children learnt to be gentle with the animals, and were very quiet so the animals were not scared. They stroked and petted the animals, and fed them lettuce.

Today we did science! The children explored some different liquids. They tried to guess what the liquids were. We had ketchup, oil, water, paint, shaving foam, vinegar and washing up liquid. We then raced the liquids, to see which was faster to travel down the piping. The children noticed that ketchup and washing up liquid took a very long time.shaving foam didn’t move at all. They said that the vinegar was very fast because it was runny. They said that the oil was fast because it was slippery. Well done Pear Class!
