Week 5 - celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee
Today, we celebrated Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee with a whole school tea party. Parents dropped off their cakes in our eco-pod and then after school children, teachers and parents were able to enjoy a variety of sweet treats that were being passed around the playground. Thanks to all of the parents (and children) who spent yesterday evening baking for today’s event!
Week 5 - Cricket Workshop
Today we were lucky enough to receive a cricket workshop, where we were split into teams and had to earn points by hitting a target with a tennis ball. Then we played a game of cricket. It was so much fun!
Week 4 - Pyjamarama Day at Moreland Primary School
Today we celebrated a visit from Sam Copeland (author of the brilliant ‘Charlie changes into a chicken’ series) who shared his inspirational story with us. Then, we visited our Pop-up Library where each child was invited to take one book each to keep! We turned our classroom into a library of own and we shared our new stories with our friends.
Week 3 - a visit to the Wallace Collection
for our second trip of the week we visited the Wallace Collection and enjoyed a workshop on Ancient Greek Myths (which links nicely to our topic). We also had the opportunity to get creative and draw parts of the collection that represented Ancient Greeks.
Week 3 - Female composers at the Barbican
This week we were lucky enough to go on two trips, the first of which was to the Barbican. We were invited to attend a concert, where all the music performed was written by female composers. We had a lovely time and even spotted instruments we had not seen in person before, such as the harp!
Week 2 - Forest School
Today we went out into our forest school and carried out several activities. We collected ideas about what we want to do in Forest School over the next few weeks. Then, we played a game, noticing all the different hazards - things that are dangerous - in the Forest school area. Amber found some bird poo and Imran notices the broken sticks by the bug hotel. After that we went on a bug hunt and we found caterpillars, snails and a ladybird.
Week 1 - Earth Day
Today we used natural materials to create nature crowns. We rounded the willow and decorated our crowns with fresh flowers, lavender and herbs. Also, we wrote pledges, which explain what we would like to do to reduce our impact on climate change.
