Summer 1

Week 6 - this week we learnt how to build a camp fire using oxygen, heat and fuel. Children learnt about the different safety elements that are essential to health and well-being. Children enjoyed toasting their marshmallows and also learnt how to safely put out a fire.

Week 5 - Middlesex cricket workshop - we had a lovely opportunity to receive cricket coaching from Middlesex cricket club. We had a great time learning a new sport and gaining new skills.

Week 4 - We visited the Wallace Collection museum as a part of our learning on the ancient Greeks. We learnt about different stories told through artwork displayed at the museum. The art consisted of old furniture, pottery, paintings and sculptures. Children had a chance to dress up and act out stories told through paintings.

Week 3 - Birch class took part in a concert led by a female composer at the Barbican exhibition.

Week 2 - Forest school

As a part of our forest school project we have carried out several activities in our forest school area. We collected ideas about what we wanted to learn and find out about over the next few weeks. Children then went o and investigated possible hazards and discussed dangers related to these. Children found a wild range of living things in our school and collected them in pots to look at further.

Week 1 - Earth Day

As a part of our global citizenship unit around sustainable development, year 4 had the privilege to be a part of the garden classroom project to tackle climate change. Each child had a chance to create a crown using natural materials such willow, flower and stems. We then wrote a pledge, explaining changes we are willing to make for the world we live in. Children had the opportunity to visit kings square park and take part in a workshop focussed around trees.
