Here are some photos of some of the things we have been doing in Olive class this term.
We will be uploading photos regularly so make sure you check this class page often!
Our Dinosaur Museum!
On Friday 28th May we turned Olive class into a Dinosaur Museum!
We created different stations including a volcano station, a fossil station, dinosaur habitats and a Mary Anning information station, as well as lots of other things.
It is a fantastic display of our learning and we will be uploading a video of our museum to the website and Class Dojo soon so keep a look out for this!
Dinosaur Museum preparation
This week we have been preparing things for our Dinosaur Museum! We are turning our classroom into a museum at the end of next week (Friday 28th May) to finish off our topic 'Fossil Hunters'. We will be showing off the things that we have been busy learning and making for you to have a look at. Here are some photos of us making some clay fossils and paper mache volcanoes.
We will be uploading our class assembly video of the Dinosaur Museum to Class Dojo on Friday so make sure you watch it!
Making Georgian Dollhouses
This week we have been thinking about the Georgian era, which is when Mary Anning lived.
We have had a look at some Georgian houses and compared them to homes now. We used Google maps to explore the local area and saw how many Georgian houses there are around our school.
We also looked at the interiors of some Georgian houses in order to help us make our own dollhouses. We noticed how different the inside looked compared to houses now!
Then we worked in pairs to create our own houses. We used a range of resources like junk modelling, paint, material and coloured paper.
Here are some of our dollhouses!
Maths - Numbers to 100
In maths we have been learning Numbers to 100.
This topic has included learning how to recognise, order and compare and Numbers to 100. We have also been using place vaule grids to complete addition problems using high numbers and using practical resources to make different numbers.
This week in Forest School we made some journey sticks.
We found a stick and went on a journey around the forest school area to collect items. We found a range of things, some natural and some man made.
We attached the items onto our sticks to create our journey stick!
This week we started our new topic 'Fossil Hunters'.
We have been learning about Mary Anning and how she was a palaeontologist. We even had a go at being a palaeontologists ourselves and took part in a big dig! We found all sorts in the sand including fossils and dinosaur bones.
We have also been busy drawing fossils using a range of materials.
