Monday 1st June 2020


Read the story ‘Oliver’s vegetables’and clarify the new vocabulary for your child.


Key vocabulary: proudly, complaint, bargain, crinkly, spinach, rhubarb, beetroot, tangle. 


Have you tried all the vegetables Oliver finds in the story? 

How about spinach, rhubarb and beetroot? 

What is your favourite vegetable?

Try a vegetable you have never tasted before during this week. Can you describe the taste to someone?

Read through Oliver’s Vegetables and answer the following questions:


Where did Oliver look for vegetables?


What vegetables did he find?


What was the main vegetable Oliver was looking for? 




Parents/carers please support the children with the key vocabulary from the story (listed under Monday’s learning) and challenge them to use some of the vocabulary during this week.


Wednesday 3rd June 2020


Colour in and cut out the vegetables from the story Oliver’s Vegetables. Once you have cut them out put them in the order that Oliver found them.

Can you remember the order? Check through the story to see if you are correct. 


Thursday  4th June


Read the story “Oliver’s vegetables”and try to retell it using your own words supporting yourself with pictures of the story.


Friday 5th June



For today let’s think about philosophy for children (P4C). Look to each picture and discuss with your child if would be good or bad and why.
