School Council have been speaking to their classmates about Moreland Primary School and how we can make it even better. We have decided upon two different social action projects to work on this academic school year. We are hoping to plan and implement one with the help of our school community and the local community.

Our social action project this year will be to create a Snack Bar for Key Stage 2 to access at break time once or twice a week. We believe this will help students want to come to school and help students focus in class too! This term we have created a presentation to lead our pitch. School council will lead an assembly to share our action plan with Moreland. From there, we want to pitch to our School Parents Association and to Greggs to ask for funding for our healthy snacks.

Our students have been meeting regularly to prepare for our Rights Respecting School Silver Award application. They've been getting ready for their upcoming interviews and playing a key role in gathering evidence to show how our school upholds the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. We’re proud of their dedication and teamwork – watch this space for updates!

School Council had the exciting opportunity to meet and interview the British Ambassador to Iceland. They asked thoughtful questions about her role, life in Iceland, and the importance of international cooperation. The Ambassador was impressed by their curiosity and confidence, and the session sparked great discussion about global connections and future aspirations.
