Welcome
Welcome to Moreland Primary School from the Head Teacher
A warm welcome to our school website which has been designed to give you as much information as possible about our lovely school and the way it works. OFSTED visited the school in March 2020 and confirmed that Moreland is still a good school where "pupils look forward to coming to school every day because they enjoy learning. Leaders are ambitious for them to do well and teachers help each pupil to achieve their very best."
Moreland provides care and education for children from 6 months old in a beautiful new building set within spacious, well equipped grounds. We are located in a vibrant community at the heart of London and make the most of the all the opportunities that this offers us. We are a community school in every sense of the word working closely with our partner school St Luke's and with many other local organisations and businesses. Our children and families are at the heart of everything we do and we thrive on the diversity and wealth of culture, knowledge and experience that this brings to our school.
Moreland is an exciting, happy place in which to work and learn. We strive to develop a passion for learning which is driven by high quality teaching of our broad, balanced, engaging bespoke curriculum. Our innovative and aspirational learning for life programme which includes philosophy for children, enquiry led learning and global citizenship is continually evolving to reflect the world that we live in and encompasses learning in the widest sense. Children are given the time and space to develop their emotional literacy and compassion for others, their creativity and enjoyment of the arts, their understanding of citizenship and a love and respect for nature alongside the National Curriculum. Learning is rooted in first hand experiences and reflects and celebrates children's cultural backgrounds broadening their horizons. This approach embeds the school's 'Learning for Life' ethos and supports the development of happy children who are ready for the next stage in their educational journey, have high aspirations and a strong sense of respect and belonging.
There is a strong, positive mind set culture which children enjoy and respond to- Moreland’s Magnificent 8 based on 8 key attributes for positive learning. We place a lot of emphasis upon children being happy, confident and fulfilled. We do our best to motivate children so they naturally explore and routinely question, cultivating creativity, curiosity, independence and individuality- a love of learning and a desire to know more.
We are committed to inclusion and all children in Moreland are valued as individuals and have the opportunity to excel. We know our children, their strengths, talents and potential - all of which we build upon. We actively nurture self-belief and Growth Mindset so children feel they can achieve anything with determination, perseverance and hard work. We aim to ensure that all barriers to learning are removed so every pupil reaches their own full potential. This includes regularly reviewing every child's progress and ensuring high aspiration and expectations for all. The leadership team works closely with teachers to ensure learning experiences are consistently creative, stimulating and inspiring to the children.
The leadership team, staff, children, parents and governors work together in Moreland with collaboration and mutual respect. We are united and learn from each other and succeed together.
'Reaching higher than I dreamed, becoming the person that I want to be, doing the best I can for the world and for me.’- this is our mission.
I highly recommend Moreland to you and invite you to come and see for yourself what a fabulous school it is. Children leave Moreland aged 11 years with confidence and they have much in which to be confident about and are fully prepared for secondary school education- ready educationally, socially and emotionally.
